Cao Dai Temple of Phu-Quoc
The island's Cao Đài temple in Dương Đông, the colourful home of Vietnam's home-grown religion that blends Buddhism, Christianity, Taoism and more — complete with its all-seeing Divine Eye above the altar. It's a smaller, quieter cousin of the famous Tây Ninh temple, but the same bright dragons, pastel colours and unusual iconography make it worth a look. It's an active temple with set prayer times, and free to visit respectfully. Dress modestly, stay to the sides during services, and take in the details — the mix of symbols is unlike anything else you'll see on the island. A quick, genuinely different stop.
